Minor Victories is a collaboration between Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, Editors’ Justin Lockey and his brother James. The exciting new four-piece have announced details of an eponymous debut full-length, due 3 June via Play It Again Sam, alongside the second taste of the record, and what a mouth-watering taste it is. Recalling the epic, atmospherics of Explosions In The Sky, 'Folk Arp' breezes along with a stunning melancholic undertone as twinkling guitars are joined by swooping strings and an increasingly impassioned rhythm. Goswell's hushed vocal work pulls the action along with an effortless serenity until the almost Sigur Ros-esque climax pours out with spine-tingling power. It's a poignant and simply stunning effort from this extremely exciting project. -G.O'B
